Nationals
Requirements:
- Original and copy of a valid and undamaged personal identity card (with readable data and photograph).
- Certificate of theoretical and practical training course from an A.T.T.T. authorized agent accrediting the applicant as fit to drive the corresponding vehicle type. The validity of the initiated process is subject to the expiration of this certificate (365 days from the issuance date).
- Submission of blood type and RH factor laboratory result from a laboratory authorized by the Technical Council of Public Health of the MINSA. (Must include the user’s full name, ID number, with the lab technician’s fresh seal and signature).
- If the first-time application includes category D (light trucks up to eight (8) tons and private buses up to sixteen (16) passengers), a negative result from a laboratory authorized by the Technical Council of Public Health of the MINSA regarding marijuana and cocaine use is required. This result is valid for six (6) months from the document issuance date. (Must include the user’s full name, ID number, with the lab technician’s fresh seal and signature). (Mandatory requirement by law 146 of April 15, 2020, effective from May 15, 2020).
- Visual, auditory, theoretical, and practical validation at the branch according to the procedure established by A.T.T.T.

- Must be in good standing with A.T.T.T.
- Individuals with hearing disabilities must present a medical diagnosis issued by an Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) specialist or an audiometry test with a validity of no more than 6 months (from the date of issuance). It must include the full name, personal identification number (ID card or passport), signature, and a current seal of the person issuing the diagnosis or test results. With this documentation, the individual with a hearing disability will not need to undergo auditory validation.
Important:
- If you are a senior citizen, pensioner, or retiree, you can apply for your in-person process without a prior appointment.
- Anyone aged seventy (70) or older can opt for a driver’s license, which will be valid for two (2) years. Additionally, a certificate of good physical and mental health issued by an internal medicine or geriatrics specialist, with a validity of no more than 6 months, must be presented. The document must include the full name, ID number, fresh seal, and signature of the doctor with their specialty.
- If you have an active payment arrangement, the validity of the driver’s license will depend on the clause established with A.T.T.T.
- Payment must be made at the branch where your process concludes.
- Payment can be made in cash, with credit and debit cards at A.T.T.T. cash registers within Sertracen branches. Also through online banking or ATMs, once the operator provides the control number for your new process in case of payment via ATM.
- The names, surnames, and document number must match or be identical in all submitted requirements. In case of any difference in the data, supporting documents will be requested to validate that it is the same person and will be subject to verification.
- All submitted documentation must be valid, in good condition, without damage, and readable data and photograph must comply with security guidelines. (Applies to all requirements).
- The vehicle for practical validation must be in good condition with a valid plate (valid decal and sticker)
- Access to vehicles to be used in the practical validation area:
- Vehicles labeled by driving schools authorized by A.T.T.T. can only be used by users holding a valid certificate with category(s) matching the vehicle(s) to be used issued by that school.
- Any vehicle with an assigned route must have an off-route permit. Only one (1) test per day is allowed per submitted permit.
- Any private vehicle can enter for testing on one (1) occasion.
- The issuance of the driver’s license is conditioned on compliance with the traffic regulations, and all requirements must be valid at the time of document printing.
- Once the process is initiated, it must be completed at that branch.
- The driver must not have accumulated more than fifty (50) points in their driving history at the time of applying for the process. (Mandatory requirement by law 146 of April 15, 2020, effective from May 15, 2020).
For Foreigners:
- Original and copy of the migration card (valid, without damage to the plastic and seal, with readable data and photograph). If you have permanent resident status (E card), you must present the original and a copy of the personal identity card (valid, without damage to the plastic and seal, with readable data and photograph).
- Original and copy of the ordinary passport (valid and undamaged, according to the nationality described in the migration card).
- Certificate of theoretical and practical training course from an authorized agent or A.T.T.T. accrediting that the applicant is fit to drive the type of vehicle corresponding to the application. The expiration of the initiated process is subject to the validity of this requirement (365 days from the issuance date).

- Foreigners with a new document number: To process a driver’s license after a change of identity document (passport to passport, passport to ID, ID to passport, or ID to ID), records must be updated to the new number:
–Vehicle registration (vehicles maintained must be updated).
–Minor infractions (outstanding ones must be paid, and payment arrangements must be updated to the new document number).
–Weights and dimensions (vehicle processes maintained or related to your name must have completed all processes, i.e., card removal and payments).
–Traffic courts (restrictions and police parts must be resolved or updated to the new number).
–The certificate of the theoretical and practical training course.

- For foreigners with temporary residence, the validity of the driver’s license is determined by the expiration of the migration card or up to four (4) years; whichever occurs first.
- Once the process is initiated, it must be completed at that branch.
- The driver must not have accumulated more than fifty (50) points in their driving history at the time of applying for the process. (Mandatory requirement by law 146 of April 15, 2020, effective from May 15, 2020)
